Since 1998, Jamie has had his own fan club. They congregate at his
official on-line chat club, "Jamie's
Place and Chat". The group is comprised of people from all over
the world who donate their time and money to the causes that Jamie holds dear,
who keep him "visible" on the net with their own sites and by
participating at other message boards that have to do with him, and who
steadfastly support him both when he's working and when he isn't - by constantly
letting the networks and production companies know that they want to see more of
him. Toward this end, they have written tens of thousands of letters and
postcards, made countless telephone calls and sent more e-mails than can be
counted.
Whenever Jamie appears near the hometown of a JPACer, that person takes
friends and family to the event, then reports back to everyone else so that they
can share in the excitement that seeing Jamie in person generates.
About once a year, as many JPAC people as can manage it come to California to
spend a long weekend together while they attend a specific "Jamie
event". This year, JPACers met each other at Disney's California
Adventure Park to let ABC know that they intended to support their new show,
"Desperate Housewives", because Jamie had a role in it.
The day that Jamie appeared ended up being the hottest day of the year, which
meant that there just wasn't enough sunscreen on the face of the planet to keep
the JPACers from frying in the California sun! Still, it was a
star-studded weekend spent at the happiest place on earth, so how could a good
time not be had by all?
